Gravity & Mass
Have you ever wondered how object move on other planets? Today is your day to see an example of how objects might move if dropped on Jupiter or the moon. Take a look below to find out what your task is!
Task
- Take a moment to explore this online simulation. The simulation will allow you to change weights, springs, and the gravitational pull. Take moment to explore! During you exploration think of and write down any questions that come to mind.
- Develop a testable question. Look at your list of questions, is there one that could be answered with a little more tinkering with the simulation. Take a moment to record that question and think of ways you could test it using the online timer, ruler and other tools provided.
- Develop a test to find out the answer to your question. Remember your testable question must be answered using data that you collect in an experiment. Please include a list of tools, steps, and a hypothesis. Record your data in a Microsoft Excel spread sheet. Don't forget to take a few screen shots during your exploration.
- Next you will take your data and turn it into a graph using Microsoft Excel. The program will walk you step by step. Don't forget the important graph features including titles, measurement, and a scale.
- Once you have finished your experiment and recorded the data you are going to create a small slide presentation using Microsoft Power Point. It should include 5 slides with the following information.
- Question
- Hypothesis
- Experiment Plan
- Data Chart
- Graph
